Biography of Jody Heinricks
To write a Bio about oneself is probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to write. So this is it RAW! - Who I am. Do I really know. Yes I do, but to tell on myself ... YIKES.
Okay, well I have certainly done a lot of things in my life. I’ve traveled all over my home country Canada and still cannot get enough of all its natural beauty and wonders, its simply amazing and just keeps on giving.
I was extremely fortunate to be born on Canada's West Coast in a small village named Esperanza B.C in 1962. there were no hospitals where we lived in Tahsis BC, Esperanza had the closest thing to a Hospital and that would be an old folks home, so it was decided I would be born there.
There were no other babies just me, so as my mother always said, I couldn’t even get you mixed up, I tried she said but it was not possible.
When I was about 2 years old we moved to Ucluelet BC which is also on Vancouver Island.
Raised by Wolves, once I was tame enough I could be brought home where I had a brother two years older than me anxiously awaiting my arrival He had already been tamed and was able to show me the ropes, danger zones and all the very secret paths that led to what we believed was Our Place. Our Private little sanctuary. We had never seen another human in our secret place, in fact walking down the path to get there, there were hundreds of frogs and toads, some were quite loud and large, I thought those must be the ones with the powers, the ones in charge, so I stayed clear of the big ones as much as I could and my brother would be way ahead of me on the path, so I’d have to hurry to catch up running as fast as my little legs would go wearing my oversized gum boots slipping and sliding on that muddy trail as it rained what seemed like every day although taking many falls .. I kept up, many times he would grab me, help me out of the mud, asking ARE YOU OK ...LETS go! Away wed go.
"... I developed such a love for all life, all living things, everything was alive and the trees I felt they could talk, the animals, everything was so alive and so free from a world I had not met and did not even know existed ..."
Once we reached the end of the path all the trees just stopped and it opened up, there we would see a wonderful sandy beach, with rocks that led far out into the ocean, there were also rocks we could climb on this was the best as it gave the perfect view of whatever the ocean had for us to see, it was kind of like going to an afternoon picture show. It was always different every day we would see something new and we couldn’t wait to get there.
At that time in the 60s there were an over abundance of killer Whales in the Ocean they swam in large groups and we climbed high on the rocks away from the sometimes ferocious tides that would hit the rocks on the lower land, that was scary it almost seemed like the tides hitting those rocks were so loud that it sounded as though the rocks were breaking into pieces, but that never happened. We were high enough up on the rocks watching the whales and I felt like they were there to meet us but they were very far out and just on their own personal journey, there were times we could here their call, it was simply amazing. I developed such a love for all life, all living things, everything was alive and the trees I felt they could talk the animals everything was so alive and so free from a world I had not met yet and did not even know existed.
I once came in contact with a sting Ray that was beached on the sand on Long Beach while we were on a family day out, Lucky for me my Father was one step ahead of me saying NO! NO! Do not touch that one and with an explanation I then realized although all these animals were free they also could be dangerous predators. Just like all life, we need to protect our family our environment around us and be cautious.
I loved the world that existed around me it was the only world I had ever known, so it was natural to me all that lives have purpose. The superhero’s of the forest were my Brother, myself and of course Rex my Dog would join our group and as time went on one day we received this loud little baby, it was a girl and it was weird squirmy, messy and couldn’t talk but squeaked but it was ours.
From there we left the Island when I was around 10 and moved to a City where the bright lights shone, and that ... well that is a whole other story.
